Prof. Muhammad Harunur Rashid, Fellow IEEE (USA) and IET (UK), Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of West Florida, visited East West University on July 1.

 

Prof. Rashid is the author of 16 books and 130 technical papers and is an authority on engineering education. Prof. Md. Kamrul Hasan, Pro-Vice Chancellor, East West University introduced Prof. Rashid to the senior faculty members of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering.

 

In the meeting Prof. Rashid talked about the accreditation requirements of engineering programs. In particular, he discussed about the roles an engineer is expected to play in the society, international engineering alliances and engineers’ mobility forum, the desired attributes of an engineer and ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, USA) curriculum and design requirements. His presentation was followed by a lively discussion on designing engineering curriculums and accreditation within the context of Bangladesh.
