East West University Signs MoU with Asian Institute of Technology to Strengthen Academic Collaboration

East West University (EWU) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster academic cooperation, research, and training activities. The agreement, which is effective for five years and renewable upon mutual agreement, marks a significant step forward in the partnership between the two prestigious institutions.

The MoU was signed by Professor Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of East West University, and Professor Kazuo Yamamoto, President of the Asian Institute of Technology, on 18 August 2024. This partnership aims to enhance the relationship between EWU and AIT, focusing on collaborative efforts that will benefit both institutions.

The initial collaboration will involve the School of Management at AIT and the Faculty of Business and Economics at EWU. The scope of cooperation will later extend to include the School of Engineering and Technology at AIT and the Faculty of Science and Engineering at EWU. This strategic partnership is designed to promote joint research initiatives, academic exchanges, and the development of innovative educational programs.

Key areas of collaboration outlined in the MoU include:

  • Joint Research Projects: Both institutions will work together on research projects of mutual interest, aiming for publication in renowned academic journals.

  • Conferences and Workshops: EWU and AIT will jointly organize conferences and workshops on an annual basis, providing platforms for knowledge exchange and networking.

  • Faculty and Student Exchange: The MoU facilitates the exchange of faculty members and students between the two institutions, promoting cross-cultural learning and academic growth.

  • Capacity Building Programs: The development and implementation of capacity-building PhD/Master’s partnership programs will be a key focus, enhancing the academic and research capabilities of both institutions.

This MoU strengthens the ties between EWU and AIT and underscores their shared commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Both institutions are confident that this partnership will lead to significant advancements in education, research, and training.
