May 12, 2025

The Department of Law, East West University (EWU) successfully hosted its 9th Workshop on “Mooting and Advocacy Skills” on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The event was attended by 90 enthusiastic first- and second-year law students.

The day-long program featured four engaging lecture sessions conducted by esteemed faculty members. Mr. Riad Mahmud, Senior Lecturer in Law, initiated the workshop with his session titled “Introduction to Mooting.” This was followed by Ms. Farzana Rifat Siddique, Lecturer in Law, who discussed the essential skill of “Fact Marshalling.” Mr. Sayeed Hossain Sarwar, Senior Lecturer in Law, provided guidance on “Legal Research and Memorial Writing,” while Mr. Ali Mashraf, Lecturer in Law, concluded the sessions with “Oral Advocacy and the Art of Presentation.”

After the completion of the lecture sessions, participants observed a demonstration of a Moot Court Competition performed by experienced EWU law students. This session was further enriched by the presence of Dr. Morshed Imtiaz, District & Sessions Judge of Noakhali, who attended as the Guest of the Workshop. Dr. Imtiaz provided insightful feedback and shared practical strategies for crafting persuasive arguments in the courtroom.

The workshop concluded with a certificate giving and closing ceremony, graced by Dr. Muhammad Ekramul Haque, Professor and Adviser, and Dr. Nabaat Tasnima Mahbub, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Law. Their continued support played a significant role in the event’s success. Participants are grateful to the organizing faculty members—Ms. Farzana Rifat Siddique, Mr. Khandker Saad At Tanbir, Ms. Nur-A Ariya Alam, and Ms. Mashraba Naziat—for making the event possible.
