Mahdin Shafiq Omi Recognized on Global Stage for Photography Excellence
Mahdin Shafiq Omi, the President of East West University Photography Club and a student of the Department of Business Administration, recently obtained the FIAP Honourable Mention at the Orhan Holding 20th International Photography Contest for his photo titled 'Journey to the Unknown.'The competition started on 13 August 2024 and accepted entries until 9 November 2024. The award-giving ceremony took place on 7 December 2024, with the exhibition held from 14 to 31 December at Ninecim Art House, Turkey.The contest witnessed participation from 47 countries, with a total of 4,767 entries. Notably, Turkey submitted 543 entries, followed by Iran with 166 and India with 150, showcasing the global scale of the competition. Bangladesh had 41 submissions, making Mahdin’s recognition a significant achievement among both local and international photographers.
The honourable mention from the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) further solidifies his reputation as a distinguished photographer on the global stage. Mahdin was also the National Award winner for Bangladesh in the Sony World Photography Awards 2024.
