Team MATIPLUS from East West University Crowned Champion at Hult Prize Qualifier Round Hosted by AUST


Team MATIPLUS, represented by two outstanding students from East West University(EWU), has secured the Champion position at the prestigious Hult Prize Qualifier Round hosted by Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST).

The winning team was led by Md. Sadik Jamal Kowshik, CEO of MATIPLUS from the Civil Engineering Department, and Raisa Jahan Binti, CFO of MATIPLUS from the Business Administration Department, EWU. Through dedication, innovation, and a shared commitment to sustainability, the team developed an impactful sludge-based fertilizer solution to address environmental challenges while promoting sustainable agriculture.

The competition witnessed intense participation, beginning with 100 teams in the initial round. Following a rigorous evaluation process, 18 teams advanced to the second round, and ultimately, 6 teams competed in the grand finale. Demonstrating exceptional teamwork, a compelling presentation, and a viable, sustainable solution, MATIPLUS emerged as the Champion.

Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, extended heartfelt congratulations to the members of Team MATIPLUS, expressing pride in their remarkable achievement and offering best wishes for their upcoming global competition journey. With this victory, Team MATIPLUS will now advance to the National Round of the Hult Prize. The global winner of the competition will receive $1 million in seed funding to implement their innovative social enterprise solution.

This achievement highlights the innovative spirit and entrepreneurial excellence of students from East West University and reinforces their commitment to developing sustainable solutions for global challenges.
