Position: Communication Officer - Gender Statistics

Task description

1. Support the development and implementation of communication and out-reach/advocacy strategies and plans, Women Count Bangladesh • Conduct gender statistics communication needs assessments for BCO • Design, develop, and implement gender statistics communication and out-reach/advocacy strategies • Integrate communication, advocacy, and outreach strategies into proposals for gen-der statistics project/programmes and other initiatives • Monitor and analyze print and social media and prepare reports • Support campaigns and special events with BBS and Ministry of Women and Children Affairs on gender statistics 

2. Support the development and dissemination of advocacy materials related to gen-der statistics in Bangladesh: • Develop and produce communication and advocacy instruments and materials, including briefing materials, press releases, and articles and coordinate its dissemination through effective channels • Identify and launch information opportunities, activities, approaches and platforms and partners • Support development of advocacy materials and publications with BBS • Support the engagement and supervision of video producers and communication specialist to produce audio/ visual material on UN Women’s work • Develop brochures, factsheets, stories from the field to inform media and general public • Follow guidelines from and report to HQ 

3. Support in managing media relations for BCO Women Count: • In collaboration with BCO comms lead, build relationship with press in country; maintain and update database of relevant press for Women Count Bangladesh • With guidance from BCO Comms lead respond timely and clearly to media inquiries and to a variety of inquiries and information requests; prepare related correspondence; identify topics, background information, news-related development, and coverage of interest • Support to organize roundtable discussions and briefing sessions with press when relevant • Support facilitating interviews with senior managers; connect media with UN Women subject experts • Draft talking points, briefing notes 

4. Oversee the Women Count BCO’s portfolio online presence: • Develop and maintain web content related to data and statistics, including developing design and content • Reflect BCO’s work on data hub, webpages of BCO and APRO • Reflect Women Count’s interventions in BCO’s social media handles on a regular basis 

5. Facilitate knowledge building and sharing around gender data and statistics • Identify and synthesize best practices and lessons learned from BCOs directly linked to the Strategic Note and activities and ensure exchange of information • Organize training and workshops on communication and advocacy as appropriate 

6. Provide technical support and guidance on advocacy strategies and plans for BCO: • Support NSO to develop gender statistics communication plans • Support the development of social media assets and key messages to promote gen-der statistics at country level • Provide support with regards to the development of gender statistics training mate-rials as well as present training courses where appropriate


Required experience:

3 years of experience in :- 

• Experience in the field of national and regional level in communications and related fields 

• Experience in the development of regional and national strategies on the development of gender statistics and establishment of coordination mechanisms on gender statistics 

• Experience coordinating and liaising with government agencies and/or donors is an asset 

• Experience working in the UN System is an asset


Required education level:

Master degree or equivalent in communications studies, economics, development studies or relevant filed.
