  • JOB PURPOSE

  • Senior IT Operations Associate will lead Information Technology maintenance and support activities to enable the effective delivery of IT services and maintain data connectivity solutions to support the humanitarian community in the Cox’s Bazar operational areas. The Incumbent also be called to conduct assessments,  formulate recommendations, prepare budget proposals, write technical documentation, manage data connectivity projects and train staff. 
  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Manage and coordinate the design and the deployment of IT systems like major Local Area Network (LAN and Wireless LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) projects including budgeting and planning a voice and data network, aligned with the humanitarian service delivery objectives in Cox’s Bazar; 
  • Oversee and troubleshoot the existing IT infrastructure/networking problems and propose improvements and organize upgrades accordingly;
  • Recommend strategies to address specific IT systems, connectivity, and related training needs; 
  • Oversee junior IT staff as well as the data connectivity services in the camps area in Cox’s Bazar as per the UN standards;
  • Take measure to ensure user data privacy & security, access controls and safeguard IT network from undesired intrusions; 
  • Manage and coordinate a team TEC support staff through training activities to develop skills and knowledge on telecommunications systems and procedures; 
  • Develop and recommend to partners a variety of documentation like standard operation procedures; 
  • Identify and propose IT solutions and alternatives, when required, based technical features and cost/benefit analysis; 
  • Engage with helpdesk services and provide necessary support to the operations according to World Food Programme (WFP) standard ; 
  • Support the development and implementation of plans for the delivery of a full range of IT services and improvements to methods and processes in order to meet operational requirements. 
  • Support Foundational IT connectivity and infrastructure systems for optimum performance in collaboration with IT Foundational Leads. 
  • Support WFP digital systems and solutions for optimum beneficiary support in collaboration with Digital Solutions workstream.
  • Showcase and promote teamwork and communication within the team. 
  • STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: University degree with experience and training/courses in one or more of the following disciplines: computer science, telecommunications, electrical engineering, mathematics or related discipline or relevant experience. Involvement in minimum 1 emergency operations within the last 7 years of experience with escalating level of responsibilities is desired. 
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience in an international environment, preferably in humanitarian context including experience in:
    o Emergency ICT assessments and analysis,
    o Emergency preparedness and contingency planning
    o Managing teams
  • Language:   Fluency (level C) in English language. 
  • DESIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and other related software.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching;
  • MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA) or MikroTik Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE) is desired;
  • Ubiquiti Enterprise Wireless Admin (UEWA) and/or Ubiquiti Broadband Wireless Specialist (UBWS) certifications are desired.
  • Tact and ability to work harmoniously with people of different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • Ability to plan and organize work programme;
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision under own initiative;
  • Good analytical skills, resourcefulness, initiative;
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills ability to conceptualise issues, think in abstract terms, and analyse numerical data;
  • Requires the ability to work under pressure and on multiple tasks.
