Workshop on “Advancing Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Implementation in CE Department: Strategies for Effective Integration”

Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of East West University (EWU) organized a day-long workshop on “Advancing Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Implementation in CE Department: Strategies for Effective Integration” for the faculty members of the Department of Civil Engineering (CE), which was held on 19 August (Saturday) 2023. The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Md. Naimul Haque, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of CE.

Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Additional Director of IQAC was present at the event as resource person and delivered his talk on “Experience on Outcome-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL)”. Professor Wasif explained how to address complex engineering problems and activities during designing a term project. He also shared his experience on designing Capstone Design Project. In the next session, Dr. Md. Naimul Haque focused on “Structure and Components of the OBE curriculum in the Dept. of Civil Engineering” and “Course Design and Assessment Strategy of CE315 and CE211 Courses”, Dr. Md. Tawfiq Sarwar, Associate Professor, Department of CE, discussed on “Course Design and Assessment Strategy of CE201 and CE451 Courses”, and Dr. Engr. Mohammad Kamruzzaman Talukder, Assistant Professor, Department of CE, discussed on “Course Design and Assessment Strategy of CE 441 Course”.

A total of eight faculty members of the department of CE participated in the workshop. There was a group discussion and a hands-on exercise to develop skills in designing course outcomes. Overall, it was an interactive session. In concluding the program, the Chairperson of the Dept. of CE thanked the participants and the IQAC for organizing this workshop. The participants expressed their gratitude to the EWU authority and IQAC for the smooth arrangement of the program.
