East West University Holds Condolence Meeting and ‘Doa Mahfil’ for Syed Manzur Elahi

East West University (EWU) holds a solemn condolence meeting and ‘Doa Mahfil’ on 18 March 2025 in remembrance of the esteemed Chairperson of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Syed Manzur Elahi, who passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 83. The program, held at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium of EWU, provided an opportunity for the university community and family members to honor the memory of a visionary business leader and a dedicated supporter of education.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser of EWU and close friend of the late Syed Manzur Elahi, led the tributes, sharing precious memories and highlighting Syed Manzur Elahi’s invaluable contributions to the university’s growth and development. Syed Nasim Manzur, son of the late Syed Manzur Elahi, also shared his father’s thoughts and priorities regarding East West University. Other notable figures who shared their memories included: Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Farzana Akhter, Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Mashfiqur Rahman, Registrar, Abidur Rahman Khan, Joint Chief of Admin, Logistics and Protocol and Mr. Golap Mia, Caretaker of EWU.
The Condolence Meeting was attended by Family members of the late Syed Manzur Elahi, Mr. Nawshad Samsul Aefin, Member of the BoT, Mr. Mansoor Mumin, Member of the BoT, Mr. Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Member of the BoT, Pro Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Deans, Chairpersons of various departments, Faculty Members, Officers, Staff, Students of the university and other distinguished guests from several sectors of the country. Following the memorial, a ‘Doa Mahfil’ was held, where special prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the departed soul.
Syed Manzur Elahi, a prominent figure in Bangladesh, was laid to rest at the Banani graveyard in Dhaka. His dedication to East West University and his commitment to fostering quality education will be remembered and cherished by the entire EWU community.
