Certificate Awarding Ceremony Teachers’ Training Program on Teaching, Learning and Research

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) hosted a certificate awarding ceremony to honour the participants of the second teachers’ training program, focused on teaching, learning, and research. This event celebrated the dedication and hard work of educators who had completed the teachers' training program. The program was held on August 25, 2025, at the Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery of East West University. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of East West University (EWU). Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, Honourable Governor of Bangladesh Bank, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, was present as a special guest at the occasion. A total of 34 faculty members received certificates recognizing their commitment, ability, and passion for being effective educators after completing the four-month training program.
Dr. Ahsan H Mansur, Honourable Governor of Bangladesh Bank, emphasized that teachers are "crucial national assets" whose knowledge and wisdom can be harnessed to meet the country's needs. He also acknowledged that East West University (EWU) has experienced substantial growth, and the graduates from EWU are significantly contributing to the economic development of Bangladesh. Additionally, he credited this achievement to the leadership of Professor Dr. Mohammed Farshuddin, Chair of the Board of Trustees of EWU.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin highlighted the role of EWU in offering educational opportunities to students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. He pointed out that the scholarship scheme of EWU enables a significant number of students to pursue their studies and successfully graduate, enabling them to achieve their academic and career aspirations despite financial challenges.
Professor Dr. Shams Rahman emphasized that teachers are facilitators who work beyond the classroom, engaging with students, conducting research, and participating in other significant activities.
Professor Dr Sufia Islam, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), also addressed the audience. She mentioned that this training program covered a wide range of topics, including modules on quality assurance, teaching, learning and curriculum, information and communications technology, academia-industry collaboration, as well as professional and personal development. The training sessions also included writing research proposals, ethics in research, academic writing, and practical software training related to plagiarism. Moreover, there was a strong emphasis on equality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as policies addressing sexual harassment. Distinguished academicians from both home and abroad facilitated this training program.
Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro Vice Chancellor of EWU, took the opportunity to express his appreciation and gratitude to the honourable Chief Guest, Special Guest and Chair of the session. He acknowledged the contributions and efforts of everyone to make the event successful.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, the treasurer of EWU, as well as Deans from various faculties, Chairpersons, and Heads of different departments. A significant number of faculty members and staff of EWU were also present at the event.
Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering and Additional Director of the IQAC, Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, Additional Director of the IQAC, Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of the EWUCRT, and other officials from the IQAC and EWUCRT were present at this auspicious occasion.
