BELTA-THT-EWU 16th Teacher Development Conference 2022
Oct 30, 2022

English Language Teachers Association (BELTA) and Teachers Helping Teachers (THT), a Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Japan Association for Language Teaching (JALT), held their 16th Annual Hybrid Teacher Development Conference titled “Language Pedagogy in New Contexts” on October 28 & 29, 2022, in partnership with the English Department, East West University. The university also hosted this teacher development program earlier in 2011. This was a hybrid two-day event and the virtual sessions were conducted via zoom by five resource persons from Japan. The facilitators of the face 2 face sessions at East West University campus were teacher educators based in Japan- Dr. Patrick Dougherty, Dr. Anne Howard, and Dr. Cecilia Silva. Fifty-two participants from different schools, colleges, and universities participated in the event. The teacher-training sessions and workshops demonstrated practical and hands-on student-friendly and teacher-friendly approaches to language education that are informed by current research in the field. This is one of BELTA's successful continuing professional development programs running for 15 years now.
