Dr. Jahurul Islam presented his paper on “Velopharyngeal Opening in Nasal Sounds: An analysis of French speech using X-ray films”.
Dr. Jahurul Islam is a linguist with an interest in articulatory and acoustic phonetics, phonology, and quantitative approaches to linguistics studies. Dr. Islam received his Ph.D. from Georgetown University, Washington, DC, in 2019; he completed his M.A. in Linguistics from North Carolina State University, USA on Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship. Prior to that, he had taught at Comilla University and Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Currently, Dr. Islam works as a Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
