The inaugural ceremony of the program was graced by the esteemed presence of Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, East West University, presided as
the Chief Guest. Additionally, the event was privileged to have Dr. Shams Rahman, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of East West University, and Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer of East West University, as Special Guests. They reiterated the significance of grassroots movements in environmental conservation and encouraged the students to instigate plastic pollution awareness initiatives within their families.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser of East West University, graced the closing ceremony with his presence, alongside esteemed guests including Professor Dr. Gawsia Wahidunnessa Chowdhury from the University of Dhaka, Mr. Munir Hasan, Chief Coordinator of Digital Transformation and Youth Program at Prothom Alo, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University. Together, they inspired the attending students with the core theme of the program: reduction, reuse, and recycling of plastics.

The program witnessed active participation from school-going students who engaged in various enlightening activities. These activities included ocean cleaning initiatives and learning sessions on proper waste management, emphasizing the segregation of plastics and other wastes into different bins, quiz participation and interactive art practices using plastic wastes. The organizing committee of the program comprised eminent personalities from both institutions. Professor Dr. Jesmin, from the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, University of Dhaka, Dr. Suraia Nusrin, Chairperson of the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, East West University, and Dr. MST Murshida Mahbub were instrumental in orchestrating the success of the event.

Through interactive sessions and hands-on experiences, the program aimed to instill a sense of responsibility towards the environment among the younger generation and empower them to become agents of change in combating plastic pollution.

The speakers inspired the attending students with the core theme of the program: reduction, reuse, and recycling of plastics. They highlighted various harmful aspects of plastic products and blamed the use of plastic for the crisis of waterlogging, crop loss, endangering the lives of aquatic animals, etc. They gave examples of why the use of plastic has been stopped in different countries of the world. According to them, there is a lack of awareness about plastic among the people of Bangladesh, which leads to various kinds of suffering. Therefore, the speakers advised the school students to play a role in reducing the use of plastic products by their families and to work more elaborately on this matter when they grow up. In the event, the students also promised to work towards stopping plastic pollution.
