East West University Center for Research and Training Hosts 145th Research Seminar on Graduate Employability in Dhaka

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized its 145th research seminar on 08 October 2026 at the EWUCRT Seminar Room. The paper presented at the seminar was titled "Who Gets Employed and Why? – A Discrete Choice Experiment to Assess Employability of Graduates in Dhaka," which highlighted key determinants and employer preferences influencing graduate employment in the capital. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Vice Chancellor (Acting) of East West University (EWU). Formal proceedings began with welcome remarks delivered by Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of EWUCRT.

The research was conducted by a team from the Department of Economics at EWU: Dr. Biva Arani Mallik, Associate Professor; Dr. Iftekharul Huq, Associate Professor; and Ms. Umme Marzana, Senior Lecturer.

Following the presentation, Professor Mohammad Amzad Hossain from the Department of Economics at Jahangirnagar University served as the key discussant. He offered expert commentary on the study's methodology, empirical findings, and implications for understanding labor market dynamics.

The presentation was followed by an interactive panel discussion and Q&A session, where faculty members, researchers, and students engaged with the presenters on graduate skills, market demands, and institutional strategies.

The seminar concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks delivered by the Vice Chancellor (Acting), Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik. The event drew a distinguished audience of academic leaders, university administrators, faculty members, researchers, students, and EWUCRT officials.
