EWU and BIDS Jointly Organized a Book Launching Program held at BIDS

The Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) and East West University (EWU) jointly hosted the launch of "বাংলাদেশের অগ্রযাত্রায় আগামীর করণীয়: জাতীয় সপ্তবার্ষিক কর্মপরিকল্পনার একটি প্রস্তাবিত রূপরেখা" (Bangladesh's Advancement: Action Plan for the Future - A Proposed National Seven-Year Workplan) on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the BIDS Conference Room, Agargaon, Dhaka. The book, authored by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor and Founder Vice Chancellor of EWU and Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank.

The event was graced by Dr. Mashiur Rahman, Economic Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister, as the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Chairman of Economic Research Group (ERG), and Prof. Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of East-West University, served as special guests on the occasion. Dr. Binayak Sen, Director General of BIDS, moderated the discussion.

A distinguished panel of discussants provided their insights on the book's proposals. These included:

  1. Prof. Dr. MM Akash, Faculty of BIDS Graduate School of Economics (BGSE)
  2. Dr. Kazi Iqbal, Research Director of BIDS
  3. Prof. Dr. M. A. Sattar Mandal, Professorial Fellow of BIDS
  4. Dr. Zaidi Sattar, Chairman and Chief Executive of Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh
  5. Prof. Dr. AK Enamul Haque, Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics of EWU and 
  6. Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Executive Director of Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD).

This event provided a platform for a stimulating discussion on the future of Bangladesh and the potential impact of a comprehensive national workplan.
