Participation in the Webinar “Higher Education in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0” organized by Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) on 26 September 2021

Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) organized a webinar “Higher Education in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0” on 26 September 2021. In the welcome speech Mr. Istiaque Ahmad, Member, Bangladesh Accreditation Council thanked all for attending the workshop. He shortly discussed the background of industrial revolutions and how industrial revolution 4.0 poses significant challenges to society in general and higher education. Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Chairman of the BAC, chaired the event. He emphasized that university should play their role in shaping future technology by being the testbeds for innovation and educating future generations. Professor Dr. A. S. M. A. Haseeb, Dean, Innovative Industry and Sustainability Science, Institute of Research Management and Monitoring and Professor of Materials Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia attended the webinar as the keynote speaker. Professor Dr. Haseeb briefly explained the topic entitle “Higher Education in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0”. The main objective of the event was to discuss what happened to the education system in the era of Industrial revolution 4.0.  The Speaker highlighted that due to the fourth Industrial Revolution, the country will witness a radical change in the labor sector in the near future. Many labor-intensive industries, including garments, will lose the job, and artificial intelligence and robots will occupy the labor markets in the coming days.

Professor Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, Director, IQAC of East West University participated in the virtual workshop. In addition, the Deans and Chairperson of the Departments of EWU have also participated in the workshop. A total of 160 Faculty members from public and private universities of Bangladesh including Vice Chancellors, Deans, and Directors of IQAC actively participated in the webinar.

There was an open discussion (Q/A) at the end of the session whereby Professor Dr. S. M Kabir, member, BAC and all the participants joined. The webinar program was ended with a vote of thanks from Professor Dr. Md. Golam Shahi Alam, Member, BAC. The participants also thanked BAC for organizing this webinar workshop.
