Professional Training for Capacity Building of IQACs held from 12 March 2023 to 23 March 2023

  • Professor Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Additional Director, IQAC, and Dr. Md. Abu Shahid Abdullah, Assistant Professor, Department of English participated in the two week-long workshop on “Professional Training for Capacity Building of IQACs” held from 12 March 2023 to 23 March 2023 organized by Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A total of 18 faculty members from 8 public and private universities of Bangladesh actively participated in the workshop.

The primary target of this 12-day foundation training is to develop the capacity of IQAC for ensuring Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) in the HEIs. Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) also intends to provide such training to the motivated academics to develop a pool of highly qualified Quality Assurance (QA) professionals. The workshops focused on QA in Higher Education (HE), Bangladesh National Qualification Framework (BNQF), different learning domains of Bloom’s Taxonomy, the necessity of External Quality Assessment (EQA), Continuous Professional Development (CPD), Pedagogical Challenges, Outcome-based Curriculum Design Process, Learning Outcome Domains of BNQF, preparation of course plan, mapping Teaching Learning Assessment (TLAs) with Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and exercise on mapping, Self-Assessment in Accreditation Process, and Academic Strategic Planning, which will surely be a helping hand for the teachers to enhance their teaching learning methods. Overall, it was a very intensive but interactive and informative training program which would deepen the knowledge of the participants and enable them to contribute to the QA process.
