Webinar on Educational Institution and Violence against Women at East West University

Sexual Harassment Elimination and Prevention Committee of East West University, Bangladesh, organized a webinar titled Educational Institution and Violence against Women on November 05, 2020, in order to raise awareness of sexual harassment and violence. In today’s world, these issues are considered seriously, and educational institutions have a major role to play to make people aware of the repercussions of such incidents. The two keynote speakers of the webinar, Professor Paromita Chakravarti, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, and Ms. Sharmeen Murshid, CEO, Brotee, Bangladesh, presented in the webinar addressing issues related to the roots of harassment and violence. Their presentations also tried to shed light on the steps that educational institutions can take to eliminate and prevent such incidents. Among the distinguished guests, Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Advisor, East West University, attended the webinar as the chief guest. The program was also attended by Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Chairperson, Center for Research and Training, East West University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ziaulhaq Mamun, Pro-Vice Chancellor, East West University and Professor Dr. Fakrul Alam, UGC Professor. The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Fouzia Mannan, Dean, Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and convened by Professor Dr. Sufia Islam, Department of Pharmacy, East West University. Students of many countries participated in the webinar enthusiastically and asked many questions to the speakers.
