Dec 27, 2020

East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized a “Climate Change Migration in South Asia" on 24 December 2020 at 08.00 pm on google meet app. The seminar was addressed by Md. Rezwan Siddiqui, Senior Lecturer, Department of Social Relations, East West University. The seminar was conducted by Dr. Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Member, Board of Trustees, EWU and Chairperson, EWUCRT.

On the occasion, Md. Rezwan Siddiqui, discussed the climate change vulnerability of South Asia, especially Bangladesh. He mentioned that around 9.5 million people were displaced in 2019 in South Asia due to natural disasters (floods, monsoon rains, and cyclones). In this regard, his paper aims to examine the latest and (possible) future trends in migration behavior in South Asia due to the direct and indirect impacts of climate change. After his discussion, a short question and the answering session also held on the occasion.

Professor Dr. Muhammed Shahriar Haque, Executive Director, EWUCRT, with other officials of EWUCRT and a quantity of faculty members and students of EWU, also attended the seminar.
