The Inaugural Ceremony of Teachers Training Program on “Teaching, Learning, and Research (TLR-3)”

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) of East West University (EWU), organized the inaugural session of the third phase of teachers’ training program on teaching, learning, and research (TLR-3) was held at the S.M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery on 16 October 2025. Professor Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossen, Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC), was present as the Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of East West University, chaired the event. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, attended as a special guest.

Professor Dr Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering and Additional Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), delivered the welcome address, outlined the objectives of the TLR training and introduced the participants to the esteemed guests.

The Chief Guest, Professor Dr Mohammad Anwar Hossen, praised the ongoing efforts of EWU to enhance higher education through systematic faculty development. He acknowledged the university as an “iconic symbol of educational excellence”, praising the integrity of the Chairperson of Board of Trustees, and recognizing the Vice-Chancellor as a globally respected scientist and educator.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of East West University reaffirmed the original goal of EWU, pointing out that 25% of its students are from lower-income families and that the university offers scholarships to them. He encouraged the trainees to contribute to goal of EWU of becoming a distinguished regional educational institution.

During the session, Professor Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU sought the support of UGC on key academic matters, including course approval and research funding, emphasizing commitment of EWU to equipping new faculty members with global-standard teaching and research skills.

A total of 36 faculty members from 10 academic programs will take part in the four-month long training program. Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Deans, Chairpersons of academic programs, Professors, and faculty members, officials of IQAC and EWUCRT of EWU were attended the program.
