The MoU Between EWU and ICMAB Extended for Another Five Years

The Accounting Discipline of the Department of Business Administration (DBA) of East West University (EWU) and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) have mutually agreed to extend the existing MoU between them for a further period of five years with new terms and conditions. As a recognition of excellence in academic pursuit over the years, the ICMAB agrees to extend the MoU with added benefits and facilities. Under the extended MoU, the EWU graduates majoring in Accounting from the DBA may avail of a maximum of 6 papers (30%) waiver (out of 20) along with a scholarship if they want to pursue their professional studies with ICMAB. The extended MoU was signed on 06 February 2024, at the Seminar Room of BBA, EWU. The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU and Prof. Dr. Md. Salim Uddin FCA, FCMA, President of ICMAB in a ceremony witnessed by key representatives from both institutions. Among others, the ceremonial event was attended by Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, EWU, Prof. Dr. Anup Chowdhury, Prof. Dr. Nikhil Chandra Shil FCMA, Prof. Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Mr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman FCMA, Vice President, ICMAB; and Mr. Abdul Matin Patwary FCMA, Treasurer, ICMAB.

In a short address, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU, expressed his warmest gratitude towards ICMAB and urged the faculty members to engage the students so that they can capitalize from this partnership. Prof. Dr. Md. Salim Uddin, ICMAB President, emphasized the role of ICMAB in developing skilled human resources in the field of business management where university students can take a steering role and support the development of the country.  The initiative was praised by all participants who agreed to actively work towards fulfilling the objectives set out in the MoU.

The ICMAB is one of the two recognized Professional Accounting Organizations operating in Bangladesh. The institute is established by an Act of Parliament (Cost and Management Accountants Act 2018) and runs under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. It is the only professional body in Bangladesh that takes care of the management accounting profession, its growth and development.
