4th Personal and Professional Development Conference hosted by Department of Information Studies

Department of Information Studies, East West University along with EWU Information Club and Workforce and Skills Development Agency (WSDA), New Zealand jointly organized the 4th Personal and Professional Development Conference (PPDC) on 17 May 2024 from 8 AM to 5:30 PM at S.M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery, East West University.

The central theme of the conference, "Green Skills for Youth for Achieving SDG" underscored the importance of equipping the youth with the necessary skills to contribute towards sustainable development goals. The conference provided a platform for meaningful discussions, networking opportunities, and valuable insights, empowering attendees to embark on their personal and professional journeys with confidence and purpose.

The day-long conference commenced with the inaugural ceremony graced by the Guest of Honor Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, Honorable Pro-Vice Chancellor, East West University. He emphasized the significance of both professional and personal development in today's dynamic world.

The conference was divided among seven core sessions focusing on critical aspects of personal and professional development i.e. how to overcome thinking poor attitude, communicate with others confidently, improving focus for success, leadership for career advancement, tomorrow’s CEO – why thinking big, taking risk for success, time management to achieve more. The distinguished speakers for the sessions were: Ahmed Bari, Life Coach and VP & Dean of WSDA New Zealand; Sarah Best, Communication Coach at WSDA New Zealand;  M. Khurshed Alam Halim, DMD & CRO, Eastern Bank PLC; Dr. Dilara Begum, Chairperson & Associate Professor, Department of Information Studies, East West University; Syed Rafiqul Hossain, Independent Financial Adviser and Director of L&D at Kazi School of Management; Zia Ul Karim, Associate Partner at ISCL & former Head of HR at BEXIMCO; Nur Ahmed, Skills Development Director at the International Youth Summit & Manager at BRAC. Speakers shared their insights and expertise, contributing to the enriching discussions.

Professor Shams Rahman, Honorable Vice Chancellor, East West University graced the closing ceremony of the 4th PPDC as the Chief Guest. In his remarks, he clarified the university's commitment to foster personal and professional growth of its students. Air Cdre (Retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, honorable Treasurer was also present at the closing ceremony.

A total of 120 registered students from the different departments of East West University participated in the event. All the participants received a welcome pack, breakfast, lunch, snacks, and certificates.
