The Department of CSE Organized a Workshop on Outcome Based Education (OBE)

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering, East West University recently hosted a workshop on Outcome Based Education (OBE). The event took place on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Admission Office Lobby and was attended by over 1000 students in two slots. The workshop was conducted by 𝐃𝐫. π€π‘π¦πžπ π–πšπ¬π’πŸ π‘πžπ³πš, Associate Professor, Department of CSE and Additional Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), East West University. 

Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza thoroughly discussed the significance of modern teaching methods as well as the key elements of OBE, such as Vision, Mission, Program Educational Objectives (PEOs), Program Outcomes (POs), Course Outcomes (COs), Knowledge Profiles, Complex Engineering Problems and Activities as well as Cognitive, Psychomotor, and Affective domain.  He also discussed Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and showed the difference between traditional and modern teaching methods. He also describes the competence of a learner in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes, and assessing competence by using a variety of assessment approaches. His emphasis was placed on a clearly articulated idea of what students are expected to know and be able to do, that is, what skills and knowledge they need to have when they leave the undergraduate program. 

The workshop was also attended by Dr. Taskeed Jabid, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Dr. Md. Mozammel Huq Azad Khan, Professor, Dr. Md Sawkat Ali, Assistant Professor, M. Saddam Hossain Khan, Senior Lecturer, and Md. Mohsin Uddin, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering. At the end of the session, participants engaged in an open Q&A discussion and found the program to be helpful. The EWU Robotics Club took part in the event as volunteers.
