Department of Information Studies Strengthens Global Ties with International Faculty and Expert Guest Facilitators

The Department of Information Studies, East West University is pleased to announce Dr. Susmita Chakraborty, Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, University of Calcutta, India joins as an Adjunct Faculty for the Summer 2026 semester. As part of the university’s commitment to promoting international collaboration and academic excellence, Dr. Susmita Chakraborty will engage in teaching, research, and conduct seminars and workshops with students and faculty members of the department during the semester.

Along with this, the Department is also pleased with the presence of another international academician, Dr Prasanna Ranaweera, Senior Lecturer, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka as a Guest Lecturer. During this week, Dr. Prasanna Ranaweera will be engaged with several academic activities, i.e., lectures on “Information literacy and Higher Education”, workshop on “Smart Information Users: Literacy for the Digital Age” for the students, faculty members and information professionals, collaborative research projects focused on Media and Information Literacy with the faculty members of the department.

The presence of the international faculty members is expected to enrich the learning environment by sharing global perspectives, innovative teaching approaches and professional experiences in the field of information studies.

The Department of Information Studies expressed its sincere appreciation to the visiting faculty members and hoping the collaboration will contribute significantly to academic and cultural exchange during the semester.
