East West University and Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC Sign Memorandum of Understanding: Enhancing Industry-Academia Collaboration

On 15 February, 2026, an enthusiastic and dignified program was held at East West University (EWU) to mark the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between East West University and Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC. The ceremony signified a strategic milestone in strengthening sustainable industry–academia collaboration in the fields of pharmaceutical research, innovation, and healthcare development.
The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of EWU, Professor Shams Rahman, graced the occasion with his presence. The event was also attended by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik, and the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, along with other distinguished faculty members and officials of the University.
The Chief Operating Officer of Beximco Pharmaceuticals PLC, Mr. Rabbur Reza, attended the ceremony along with the Director of Marketing, Mr. Rezvi Ul Kabir, and the Head of Medical Affairs, Mr. Dr. Alimur Reza, and several EWU alumni currently serving in the company. Their participation reflected the strong institutional bond and shared vision between the two organizations.
The MoU was signed under a collaborative project initiative aimed at promoting innovative healthcare and pharmaceutical services. The Principal Investigator of the project, Dr. Farhana Rizwan, Associate Professor, the Co-Investigators, Professor Dr. Amirul Islam, Chairperson, and Mr. Mamunur Rahman, Senior Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy, were present at the ceremony. Additionally, from the Department of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Chowdhury Faiz Hossain was also present.
During the program, both institutions expressed their strong mutual commitment to fostering a long-term and sustainable partnership. The collaboration aims to promote joint research initiatives, facilitate knowledge exchange, and work to innovate new health and pharmaceutical services for the benefit of society.
This MoU further reinforces East West University’s dedication to academic excellence, research innovation, and meaningful engagement with industry leaders to contribute to national healthcare advancement.
