East West University Delegation Visits Huawei Bangladesh to Explore Academic and Industry Collaboration

Faculty members and students from East West University (EWU) visited Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd. on Thursday, 21 May 2026, as invited guests to explore opportunities for academic, research, and industry collaboration between the two institutions. The EWU delegation was led by Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering. Other members of the delegation included Dr. Maheen Islam, Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and Dr. Raihan Ul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of CSE. The visit also featured the participation of 25 senior high-performing students from the Department of CSE.
During the program, officials from Huawei’s Public Affairs and Communications Department, led by Lian Xin, Bangladesh Country Director, along with representatives from the Human Resources Department, shared valuable insights on professional skills, career preparedness, and strategies for developing expertise in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
Speaking at the event, Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between East West University and Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd. in several strategic areas. These include the potential signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), joint initiatives in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cybersecurity, and other emerging technologies. Discussions also focused on student training programs, internships, professional skill development, and collaborative research opportunities.
The visit concluded with a tour of the Huawei Bangladesh Academy, where students gained firsthand exposure to advanced technological innovations, industry practices, and global corporate culture.
