East West University (EWU) has again demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian efforts. In response to the devastating floods that have recently affected the Feni, Cumilla, and Noakhali districts, EWU has contributed over 33 lacs 71 thousand taka to the Chief Adviser’s Relief Fund. The fund has been transferred to the Chief Adviser’s Relief Funds account in Sonali Bank on 11 September 2024. This significant donation is aimed at providing immediate relief and support to the thousands of people who have been impacted by the flooding.
The amount of donations has been contributed by the Board of Trustees, Faculty Members, and Officials of the University. In addition to this financial contribution, students of East West University had been actively involved in rescue, food and drinking water supply and clothing distribution activities from the beginning of the flood.
Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of East West University, commented on the initiative: "At East West University, we value the welfare for the greater good. The recent floods have displaced thousands of families in the Feni, Cumilla, and Noakhali regions, and it is our responsibility to stand by them during this critical time. Our donation to the Chief Adviser’s Relief Fund is a small step in helping rebuild the lives of those affected by this disaster".
East West University has plans to further support flood victims' rehabilitation efforts through collaborative projects, research, and partnerships aimed at long-term recovery.
