East West University Signs MoU with IDCOL to Advance Renewable Energy Research and Innovation

Jul 01, 2026

East West University (EWU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) to collaborate on the technical assessment, performance monitoring, and reliability analysis of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems aiming to develop standardized Quality Assurance framework in Bangladesh.

The three-year partnership bridges the gap between academia and industry by combining IDCOL’s extensive operational field data and renewable energy project experience with the specialized technical and analytical expertise of EWU's Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). The team from EEE, EWU includes: Dr. M. Ryyan Khan, Prof. Anisul Haque, Dr. Halima Begum, and Dr. Ratil Hasnat.

The signing ceremony was attended by key representatives from both organizations. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor, EWU had an engaging discussion with Mr. Alamgir Morshed, Managing Director, IDCOL.

The scope of this collaborative framework includes joint status evaluation and research on solar parks and rooftop PV installations, and development of standardized national PV system quality monitoring and assurance protocol and frameworks. Furthermore, both parties will actively engage in capacity-building initiatives, organizing joint training programs, workshops, and seminars aimed at developing the next generation of experts and clean-energy industry professionals in Bangladesh.
