East West University’s Department of Economics Hosts Grand Alumni Meet and Greet 2026

The Department of Economics at East West University (EWU) organized a day-long "Alumni Meet and Greet" on January 30, 2026, at the Manzur Elahi Auditorium. The event served as a vibrant platform for former students to reconnect with their alma mater, share professional insights, and contribute to the future trajectory of the department.
The inaugural session commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Iftekharul Huq, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Economics. This was followed by a nostalgic video presentation titled "A Walk Down the Memory Lane," which showcased cherished moments and the evolution of the department over the years.
A core highlight of the morning was an interactive one-hour discussion moderated by Dr. Biva Arani Mallik, Associate Professor, and Parvez Karim Abbasi, Assistant Professor of the Department of Economics. The session focused on the transition from academia to the professional world, where alumni shared their post-graduation experiences and provided constructive feedback on the strengths and areas for growth within the EWU training modules. The dialogue also explored strategic pathways for alumni to contribute to the department’s ongoing academic and professional development.
The event featured addresses from distinguished academic leaders. Professor A. K. Enamul Haque, former professor of the department and Director General of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), shared his insights on the role of economists in national development. Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of EWU, emphasized the university's pride in its graduates' achievements across various sectors. In his "Words of Wisdom," Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and Founder Vice Chancellor of EWU, reminded the alumni of their role as ambassadors of the university’s values and the importance of ethical leadership in their respective careers.
The formal proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Muntasir Chaudhury, Associate Professor. Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor, along with faculty members of the Department of Economics and other dignitaries, participated in the program, which was followed by a commemorative group photograph. The day ended on a celebratory note with a captivating cultural program performed by the members of the EWU Economics Club, showcasing the diverse talents of the current student body.
