EWU Library Observed International Open Access Week 2022

Nov 09, 2022

East West University Library observed International Open Access Week from October 24-30, 2022, is a global event; now entering its fifteenth year for Open Access advocates to engage their communities to teach them about Open Access, to share what they have learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research. Begun in 2007 as Open Access Day, the event was originally a partnership between Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) and students who organized local events on a handful of campuses across the United States. Since then, International Open Access Week has grown exponentially and is now celebrated at hundreds of events around the world. The theme of Open Access Week 2022 (October 24-30) is "Open for Climate Justice".  This year’s theme seeks to encourage connection and collaboration among the climate movement and the international open community. Sharing knowledge is a human right and tackling the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries. Bearing in mind that theme the EWU Library celebrated this week from October 24-30, 2022, with the following series of programs, like the previous year:

  1. Awareness building campaign on "Open Access Publishing Practices" among the university community through the East West University Library website as well as social media tools of East West University.

2. Open Access Knowledge Competition was organized based on the theme of this year "Open for Climate Justice" for EWU Students
