EWUCRT Arranges a Research Seminar on Breakthrough Pulmonary Drug Delivery Simulations

Apr 22, 2026

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) arranged a research seminar titled “Numerical Simulation of Targeted Pulmonary Drug Delivery in Patient-based Human Lung Model Under Physiological Conditions.” The event was held at the EWUCRT Seminar Room on 22 April 2026. The research is the result of a joint effort by a team of scholars, including Dr. Md. Sahidul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematical and Physical Sciences, East West University (EWU), Dr. Sarwar Jahan, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, EWU, Dr. Kazi Ekramul Hoque, Associate Professor, Department of Arts and Sciences, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology; and Dr. S M Afzal Hoq, Assistant Professor, Kulliyyah of Engineering, International Islamic University, Malaysia.

Dr. Md. Sahidul Islam and Dr. Kazi Ekramul Hoque presented the research proposal, detailing how numerical simulations can optimize the delivery of medication to targeted areas within a patient’s lung. Following their presentation, Dr. Mohammad Osman Gani, Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Jahangirnagar University, served as the formal discussant, providing expert analysis on the mathematical modeling and clinical implications of the findings. The seminar concluded with an open-floor Q&A session as well.

The session was chaired by Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of East West University. The event was also graced by Air Cdre (retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer of EWU, along with faculty members, EWUCRT officials, and enthusiastic students.
