EWUCRT Hosts Research Seminar on Soil Bacteria and L-asparaginase Production

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized a research seminar titled “Screening and characterization of L-asparaginase producing bacteria from the soil in and around Dhaka City, Bangladesh” on June 18, 2026, at the EWUCRT Seminar Room. The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of East West University (EWU) and Chairperson of EWUCRT. Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of EWUCRT, delivered the welcome remarks and introduced the distinguished presenters to the audience.

Dr. Md. Mohiuddin Kabir, Associate Professor in the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology at EWU, presented the key research findings. His co-researcher, Dr. Chowdhury Faiz Hossain, Professor in the Department of Pharmacy at EWU, was also present on the occasion. The seminar featured Dr. Riazul Islam, Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Dhaka, as the key discussant, who provided expert insights into the research topic.

The presentation was followed by a lively and interactive query session where the audience engaged in thought-provoking discussions with the researchers. The event was also graced by Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor of EWU, along with faculty members, EWUCRT officials, and enthusiastic students. The seminar successfully concluded with remarks from the chair, Professor Dr. Shams Rahman.
