“NeXTor: Bangladesh’s First-Ever Capital Market Based Real Time Investment Competition organized by East West University Investment and Finance Club”

East West University Investment and Finance Club has brought the first ever in Bangladesh, ‘an Inter-University Capital Market Based Real Time Investment Competition called “NeXTor” which is sponsored by City Brokerage Limited, powered by Education Hub, along with the assistance of other 12 partners.
The event commenced on the 22nd of February 2024. Throughout the competition, we conducted physical roadshows at 7 universities and virtually at 11 universities. We witnessed enthusiastic participation from 22 universities across the country, with a total of 244 teams comprising 732 undergraduate students.
The purpose of the event is to create the opportunity to understand the stock market and start investing in undergraduate students in Bangladesh. Through this event students are showcasing their investment knowledge, strategic investment skills, and stock market trading experience by participating in the mentioned competition. In this regard, participants learn the fundamentals of the capital market, how to construct a portfolio, and trade in the capital market through 5 different workshops. To elevate the competition, 3 competitive rounds attained by participants to reach the final stage. In the final round, 7 teams were qualified and eligible to open a BO Account with 10,000 BDT to do live trade to construct a portfolio. On the 5th of May 2024, each term will showcase their portfolio with logical arguments in front of the judging panel. Afterward, the judging panel will decide the Champion, 1st Runner-up, and 2nd Runner-up based on participants' merit.
The closing and prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for May 5, 2024, beginning at 3:00 PM at East West University's Manzur Elahi Auditorium. Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Chairman (Senior Secretary) of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, will be the program's special guest. Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chief Adviser, Founding Vice-Chancellor of the East West University, and Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, will be the Guest of Honour. East West University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shams Rahman will be the program chair. The Special Guest of the program will be Misbah Uddin Affan Yusuf, Managing Director & CEO of City Brokerage Limited. The winners will receive a total of BDT 2,00,000 in prizes, including BO accounts, awards, certifications, and internship opportunities.
