Participation of Symposium on “International Higher Education”

Professor Dr. Basanta Kumar Barmon, Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of East West University has participated in the day-long symposium on “International Higher Education” organized jointly by University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh and British Council on 24 February 2020 at Westin Hotel, Dhaka. The honorable Vice Chancellors, Deans, Head of the Departments, Professors and Directors of IQAC of different public and private universities were present in the symposium. Dr. Dipu Moni, MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest, while Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidulla, Chairman, University Grants Commission, was the chief guest in the inaugural session. Tom Miscioscia, country director, British Council of Bangladesh was presided over the symposium. The purpose of the symposium is to bring together key stakeholders in the university sector to raise awareness and develop understanding of the value of focusing on quality enhancement through the professional development of teachers in higher education and through curriculum reform. The event provided opportunities for participants to explore and debate the future direction of teaching and learning, and its professionalization, to enhance the quality Higher Education globally, regionally and in Bangladesh. It was a wonderful symposium on international higher education.
