World Bank Senior Environmental Specialist Expatiates On Green Growth In Ewu

Apr 26, 2022

On April 20, 2022, students of the Department of Economics, East West University were presented with a delightful lecture by World Bank’s Senior Environmental Specialist Dr Eun Joo Allison Yi, coordinator of the Environmental Sector portfolio based in Dhaka. Although her presentation on the "Green Growth of Bangladesh" was dedicated for the students of the course “Natural Resources and Environmental Economics”, the Department had opened the classroom for all the interested students. Dr. Yi’s profound knowledge about climate, energy, and her visual presentation on the environmental pivot of gritty, poverty-racked 60-70’s South Korea to one of the dynamic economies of modern days, intrigued the audience with Bangladesh’s journey towards a potential and sustainable Green Growth. The lecture was graced by Professor Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, (Chief Adviser and Founder Vice-Chancellor, East West University, and Former Governor, Bangladesh Bank), Professor A. K. Enamul Haque (Dean, Faculty of Business and Economics), Assistant Professor Dr. Biva Arani Mallik (Chairperson) and the faculty members of the Department of Economics. The 60 minutes lecture was followed by a general interaction by Dr. Yi asking the students about their vision and idea about life, economy, and environment, leading to a Q/A session of 20 minutes with the audience.
